Movember...November 7th

Day 7....

It's been a whole week with the 'stash' and I have been laughed at, pointed at, made fun of, and the brunt of many jokes...BUT....I have also gotten many shout outs of "MOVEMER!!!!". Kudos from many friends on how brave I am. Given high fives and thumbs up and have had the pleasure to inform many on Movember and the cause that I am supporting which is Men's Prostate Cancer....

Wikipedia:
<Movember (a portmanteau of the word moustache and "November") is an annual, month-long event involving the growing of moustaches during the month of November to raise awareness of prostate cancer and other male cancer initiatives. The Movember Foundation runs the Movember charity event, housed at Movember.com.[1] The goal of Movember is to "change the face of men's health."[2]>

The "C" word and I are not friends...No big secret. At the age of 95 my Grandad was told he had Prostate Cancer. 95 people....that is right, Cancer has no age limit...Thankfully he beat it...and he still is around at the honorable age of 99...still playing tennis every day and appreciating his life even more so now having dodged a bullet! He was lucky indeed. In the past 3 years 2 of my dear friends, my brother in law, my Godfather, and my partner who was the love of my life, weren't as fortunate as my Grandad. So, it occurred to me that short of my inability to grow my own 'stash' for November's Movember I absolutely had to do something to show my support for the cause "Prostate Cancer". An idea came to me last year "what if I wore a mustache fro November" but just wearing a fake mustache once wasn't going to get the job done. So, the idea to wear a 'stash' 24 hours a day every day of November in every aspect of my everyday life...sleeping, riding my bike, having coffee at a Cafe, whatever I am doing wherever I am the 'stash' and I are attached permanently; at least for this month of awareness...

I got to talking with a woman in Starbucks who simply just took one look at me and innocently knew nothing about Movember, yet started telling me all about this documentary she had seen called Mansome...which I googled right away and found fascinating. Mansome is actually a word referring to a mans grooming techniques...think 'Metrosexual'...but specifically for men's body hair.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mansome. She went on and on about this Movie. Finally when she took a breather the subject of my 'stash' came up...she actually had never heard of Movember or knew anythign about it so I was happy to pass on some info to her...then the discussion continued to Beard Competitions....needless to say I didn't get much work done lol...but it was interesting.
