Movember ....Emily Batty!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! @Nationals November 16th Practice and Race Set-up

Day 16...

It was course set-up day today at the South Surrey S.O.R.C.E. Bike Park http://www.sorcebikeclub.org/ for the Canadian Nationals Cyclocross Championships to be held November 18th, 2012. Many dedicated Volunteers showed up Friday morning to assist Jeff  Hanninem; our Awesome Race Director from Daryl-Evans Racing http://www.daryl-evansracing.com/and the sponsor of this years Nationals and weekend of racing on the Peninsula. It was a great day, on many levels. The course looked great, with loads of Technical elements, a great set of stairs; and a few surprises as well #pinkflamingo ;)
The highlight of my day was seeing my brother Norm Thibault racing for his Team (and is the co-owner of) Frontrunners Nanaimo http://nanaimo.frontrunners.ca/clinics , who also brought along his lovely wife, and my sister in law (that I often proudly boast about just as much...as I love her so) Wendy Simms, and they brought with them the very lovely Jenna; whom it was lovely to officially meet. They were all out practicing and checking out the course in the afternoon...and while I was chatting with them a very pretty, petite, blonde, ponytailed, smiling Emily Batty went riding by with Adam Morka, her best riding partner and fiance. She giggled when she saw my 'stash'..and it took me a few seconds of dumfoundedness till I realized and blurted out "EMILY!!!!!!!!!" she had way passed me by this point and turned her head over her right shoulder to look back and see who was calling her name. A little confused she road on....then stopped on her second time around the track.
Let me tell you everyone. Emily has been one of my facebook friends for sometime now (thanks to my friend Steve Strickland whom also commented on how lovely she was), and all the rumors are absolutely true she is the sweetest, kindest person with the prettiest big white smile you are ever going to meet. What a Lovely Lady she was. We hugged and chatted. I got to see her famous lucky white beaded necklace that she wears always while racing. I shared with her that it was her and her necklace that to inspired me to wear my pearls whenever I race now as well. She thought that was funny. What a treat!
