Movember...November 10th...visit with Miss.Sydney yay!

Teacups were stacked on the Kitchen/Dining room table ready to be packed for the move.
It seemed like an invitation for a photo op. :{

Day 10...

I had a lovely visit with the lovely Miss. Sydney ( 1/2 of the duo Dogwood & Dahlia http://dogwoodanddahlia.com/ ) ....Sydney and daughter #3 met at School back when they were in Grade 2 and quickly became best friends. That was over a decade ago. I have watched Sydney grow and evolve into such an amazing, caring, conscientious young woman since then. As well since the girls graduated from high school a few years ago Sydney and I have developed a very sweet cherished friendship. She is more than just my daughters friend, she has become mine as well and she is like a daughter to me. So I love catching up with Syd whenever possible to see what she has been up to and what she is thinking.We both share a love for life, Humanitarian Ideologies, fellow Foodies and of course a huge love for my daughter, whom has been back east in Toronto attending University for the past 3 years....so for all those reasons and the fact that Syd is just darn good company at any time, and anywhere, I was thrilled when she sent me a message a couple weeks back, wishing to get together soon. It had been a little over a year since the last time we had had a good visit so I was all over that when she got in touch and locked her in immediately...(she is a very busy girl you don't pencil this girl in EVER!)....

Miss Sydney in her new (to her) coat I found at a Thrift Store...
yet another passion that we share...I think I "Nailed it" as her Mom put it...
She looks great! (as always) :{

Sydney's Brilliant idea to take mugs on our chat and stroll...
I have never done this before; usually I have my travel mug ( I mean I always have my travel mug)
But I loved this..it just added to as amazing moment with a my dear friend.
We both were drinking Mint Chamomile Tea

We are very blessed to live where we do in the World and
Centennial Park has been a constant in my childhood, as well as my adulthood.
It was the perfect Fall setting for our walk today. :{

We walked past the new, 1st and ONLY Dog Park  in White Rock
in
Centennial  Park

It's tough to top or continue such a great start to a day.
After our visit I headed over to the S.O.R.C.E. bike Park Trails
where I had earlier that morning dropped off this bell on the pathway I had cleared the day before
and I had an idea the night before...what if I made it extra fun. Rather than have folks 'happen' on the
newly cleared path..."What if" I made it a challenge/contest.
So, I thought of what I could offer to someone for discovering the pathway first that day...
and I had a lightbulb moment. A COWBELL!!!!! *ding *ding *ding...right!? Perfect!
So, I offered up one of my prized cowbells that I use for supporting CX races to the
1st person to discover the path the bell was theirs...with a wee minuet proviso....
That they take a photo of them with the bell once out of the single track over at the
Punk Track at the Covered Picnic Table and post on our Facebook Group wall

When I stoped  by at the trail after a few hours with Sydney the bell had indeed been found....so I raced home to check the Facebook wall....nothing...and still a couple of days later still nothing...so now we have a mystery..
"Who found the Cowbell on the SORCE JYD Trail?"
hmmmm....
Well maybe they will show up next week at the Nationals Cyclocross race being held in South Surrey, British Columbia right here on the Peninsula this year...I am so pumped.
Congratulations to homever it was that found the bell.
I hope you enjoyed your fun discovery and your trek along the new pathway.
Enjoy!

Movember...November 9th>>>Friday!!! Woot!

Day 9 ...

Today ended up being an amazingly chillax day. That wasn't my intension, it just worked out that way. Which was nice because I was woken up in the middle of the night....why? Well I felt my 'stash' fall off. I was slightly concerned but still fell back to sleep. In the morning I discovered it stuck to my hair lol. Time for a new mustache. Hmm which 'stash' to where. This was a tough decision but in the end I went with another black one as I wanted to make sure that the Mo was very visible as to make the point very evident to all.

My face was naked this morning #fail lol :{

hmmm which 'stash' should I wear next?

This one?

Or this one?

Or this one?

After I had that all sorted I got ready for my walk. I set out on my usual walk, but instead of heading to the beach I went a complete other direction. I had no real plan in mind I was meandering really. I discovered a few new walk ways. Found blackberries still in the thickets, and ended up at the bike park; of course right? Even when I am not riding I still can't seem to stay away. Once I was there I decided "Well seeing as I am here I may as well walk the single track and do an impromptu 'Trail Day'". I had been riding the track all week practicing, having fun and trying out my new stump jumping skills. It's been a great weather here in the Pacific Northwest this week since the storms have finally passed on from last week. I tend to check the trails after a storm to clean up any fallen branches etc. Earlier in the week I had discovered a fallen baby tree that had snapped off it's trunk. Thanks to another S.O.R.C.E. member and his braun we were able to move it off the track. But I new the trail needed a bit of a sprucing up so I was more than happy to getter done...I was enjoying a wonderful relaxing walk through the bike trails when I came apon a path that should have been or maybe once was...I was going to keep walking but my OCD went in to overdrive...

There clearly use to be a path here at one time.

I took it apon myself to remove the branches that had been thrown there for one reason or an other and started to clear the once was path.....whilst I was clearing brush, logs, rocks, and leaves a trail runner came by. She smiled at me and said  "hello" , and then without an hesitation she naturally went along the path I had just cleared. Sweet! People were already using it; fantastic!....Seeing as it was part of the Junk Yard Dog single track pathway I decided to make it a bit challenging and gathered all the rocks out of the roots of the huge tree that had fallen and uprooted and make a bit of a rock bed for some fun fun!....I was so pleased with my work when I was done..I started to walk off but I didn't get far. Clearly my OCD had not gotten tuckered out yet because I had only gone maybe  300 ft when I found another area that to needed some clearing of cut branches ....I didn't spend as much time clearing those branches but I was still happy with the result...I then decided that was enough and headed home.
One of the several rocks I dug out of the roots of the fallen tree.

Voila!

and if you look to your left there is the little rock bed I built...

so there is a choice you can go over the rocks and have some fun
 or take the easy rout on the right...which would also be good for runners or walkers on the trail.

Great day!

 I read a bit, made some lunch and pretty much just kicked it for the rest of the day....I then realized that I hadn't spoken to a soul all day...it was kind of nice. Peaceful!

Well I did talk to Stan...he has now decided to be a copy cat lol ;-{

Movember...November 8th

Day 8....

Today while at the bank my teller commented on my 'stash' as did the teller next to her who mentioned that she had actually seen me at Starbucks the day before and she mentioned that it took her a while before she clued in as to why I was wearing my 'stash'..and then she had her "Ah ha" moment about an hour after she had left Starbucks..."MOVEMBER!"...I told her I was so pleased. That is part of the reason why I am making the effort this month..raising awareness. Get people thinking....as well I told the two tellers if it reminds one Man to make an appointment with their Doctor and get checked then I have succeeded. So, as we briefly discussed Moevember my teller then said, "Oh you are so right, but"...she continued "You know that is a very good point because I have so many friends that get all caught up with Movember growing their Mustaches and comparing and giving each other a hard time, but they never get checked".....

She brought up a very valid and incredibly pivotal point that seems to be overlooked during this month dedicated to Men's Health. Movember , although listed as one of the top 100 non government organization in the world by Global Journal, yet it brings up a very real question. How many of those participating, supporting, and donating have actually followed through with getting tested for Prostate Cancer.

 I realize this is a touchy subject that most men are rather private and rather uncomfortable with; understandable. Those of us that are promoting Movember this month do it first and for most because we care...Big time! So, please I urge you...take some time to visit your Doctor and get tested.

For all the wonderful 'Mosista's' out there...talk to your Male friends and your significant other and encourage them  as well. We aren't here to just have fun and have 'stash' competitions. It is vital that we remember what this is all for....Men's Bits...

Movember...November 7th

Day 7....

It's been a whole week with the 'stash' and I have been laughed at, pointed at, made fun of, and the brunt of many jokes...BUT....I have also gotten many shout outs of "MOVEMER!!!!". Kudos from many friends on how brave I am. Given high fives and thumbs up and have had the pleasure to inform many on Movember and the cause that I am supporting which is Men's Prostate Cancer....

Wikipedia:
<Movember (a portmanteau of the word moustache and "November") is an annual, month-long event involving the growing of moustaches during the month of November to raise awareness of prostate cancer and other male cancer initiatives. The Movember Foundation runs the Movember charity event, housed at Movember.com.[1] The goal of Movember is to "change the face of men's health."[2]>
(read more about Movember @http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Movember

The "C" word and I are not friends...No big secret. At the age of 95 my Grandad was told he had Prostate Cancer. 95 people....that is right, Cancer has no age limit...Thankfully he beat it...and he still is around at the honorable age of 99...still playing tennis every day and appreciating his life even more so now having dodged a bullet! He was lucky indeed. In the past 3 years 2 of my dear friends, my brother in law, my Godfather, and my partner who was the love of my life, weren't as fortunate as my Grandad. So, it occurred to me that short of my inability to grow my own 'stash' for November's Movember I absolutely had to do something to show my support for the cause "Prostate Cancer". An idea came to me last year "what if I wore a mustache fro November" but just wearing a fake mustache once wasn't going to get the job done. So, the idea to wear a 'stash' 24 hours a day every day of November in every aspect of my everyday life...sleeping, riding my bike, having coffee at a Cafe, whatever I am doing wherever I am the 'stash' and I are attached permanently; at least for this month of awareness...

I got to talking with a woman in Starbucks who simply just took one look at me and innocently knew nothing about Movember, yet started telling me all about this documentary she had seen called Mansome...which I googled right away and found fascinating. Mansome is actually a word referring to a mans grooming techniques...think 'Metrosexual'...but specifically for men's body hair.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mansome. She went on and on about this Movie. Finally when she took a breather the subject of my 'stash' came up...she actually had never heard of Movember or knew anythign about it so I was happy to pass on some info to her...then the discussion continued to Beard Competitions....needless to say I didn't get much work done lol...but it was interesting.

Today I had a busy day of errands and training..this is me at my sewing machine just finishing off a Birthday card to send to daughter #3....:{

Movember....November 6th

Day 6....

My Ho Hum day...felt a bit poorly today so I took sanctuary at one of my fav Cafe's in the hood.

The "C" word and I are not friends...No big secret. At the age of 95 my Grandad was told he had Pancreatic Cancer....thankfully he beat it. But in the past 3 years 2 of my dear friends, my brother in law, my Godfather, and my partner who was the love of my life, weren't as fortunate as my Grandad. So, it occurred to me that short of my inability to grow my own 'stash' for November's Movember I absolutely had to do something to show my support for the cause "Prostate Cancer". Comments Today: "Nice mustache" "How long did it take to grow that thing?"
